Recreation Leader II - Vista Del Camino Center

Vista del Camino Community Center is looking for mature, self-motivated individuals to provide year-round family recreation programming. This will require administrative and creative skills to develop and plan for fun-filled and educational activities for families in our community! This Human Services Recreation Leader II assignment is unique to Vista del Camino Community Center. This part-time position is for 20 hours, Monday-Friday during our operational hours of 8:00am-5:00pm, including a minimum of two Friday evenings until 8pm.

• Research and development of creative plans and activities for recreation participants.
• Provide adequate management of program related administrative tasks and reporting for Vista’s recreation and tutoring/homework help programs.
• Responding to participant inquiries via phone or email on programming and registration questions.
• Providing face-to-face customer service, including providing community resources.
• Advanced use of Active-Net for building activities, running reports, participant registration assistance, etc.
• Working well with multiple teams within Vista and other Human Services centers.
• Flexibility on providing occasional front desk coverage and providing face-to-face and phone customer service, including providing community resources.
• Ability to rove, the Vista del Camino Park and ensure proper use of facilities and equipment as per policy.
• Providing programming assistance to volunteers (i.e. Vista Tutoring/Homework Help Program and Recreation Program).

• Operate a motor vehicle to travel to and from off-site locations.
• Assume a leadership role if required.

Please note: Due to this position being part-time, the classification is unclassified, meaning it is at-will and serves at the discretion of the City. These positions have limited benefits.

Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $25.29/hour

• No education required for this position.
• A minimum of six months experience in a customer service position.

• Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.
  • Graduated licenses are considered restricted and therefore not acceptable for driving positions with the City of Scottsdale.
• Successfully complete driving training, first aid, and safety classes.
• A valid food handler's license ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire or promotion is required for the Concessions Assignment.
• Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.

Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/section assignment.
