Job Description
Location:
Remote / Work from Home (Contiguous United States; preference for Missouri residents excluding Kansas City, St. Louis, and Jefferson City)
Pay Rate: $19.00/hour
Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM EST
Training:
Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM EST for 30 days (attendance required; no time off permitted during training)
This role supports the Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS), Family Support Division (FSD) in administering Medicaid and SNAP benefits. The Counselor - Enrollment and Eligibility assists in processing applications, determining eligibility, and supporting participants throughout the enrollment process.
AboutThe Role
We are seeking detail-oriented and service-driven professionals to support enrollment and eligibility operations for state benefit programs. Counselors are responsible for reviewing applications, verifying documentation, determining eligibility, and maintaining consistent communication with program participants to ensure timely and accurate case processing.
Key Responsibilities- Receive, review, and screen benefit applications
- Proactively communicate with applicants to obtain missing or outstanding information
- Verify documentation, validate income, and calculate eligibility determinations
- Manage case referrals and ensure proper documentation of case activity
- Educate participants on program services, eligibility criteria, and next steps
- Maintain daily engagement with program participants
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure service continuity
- Meet productivity, accuracy, and compliance standards
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
- High school diploma or GED required
- 0-2 years of relevant professional experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to interpret policies and apply eligibility guidelines
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable working independently in a remote setting
Candidates must provide their own equipment that meets Work at Home technical requirements:
