Are you a compassionate person who enjoys helping others? The Department of Workforce Services (DWS) is looking for skilled and motivated individuals to fill Eligibility Specialist I positions within the Eligibility Services Division.
Successful applicants will be required to train in person for two weeks in the Price DWS office. For these two weeks the Price office will be considered the home office, and you will be required to travel on your own time and make your own travel arrangements. After the in-person training in Price, the remaining 6 weeks of training will be conducted in a DWS office within 50 miles of your home, contingent on space availability.
After 6 months, this position may be eligible for a remote work schedule with a quarterly in-office workday and additional in-office attendance required for team meetings and mandatory training. Approval of remote work is based on home office location, performance and is at the discretion of your supervisor and manager.

This position may be filled as an Eligibility Specialist II for an internal applicant, depending on qualifications.
Job DutiesEmployees in this position work within a team structure to determine eligibility of customers applying for or participating in public assistance programs such as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, General Assistance, SNAP, Medicaid or Child Care through interactive interviewing and fact gathering. Accurately applying complex policies and procedures in determining initial and/or continuing eligibility.
- Assisting customers seeking financial and other supportive services primarily by identifying and assessing service needs through daily processing of an individual and team caseload.
- Ensuring timely delivery of services in compliance with federal regulations.
- Exercising good judgment in working with clients who need assistance in utilizing community, department or government resources.
- Answering phone calls from customers who call to complete a phone interview, inquire about the status of their current case or request information on available programs/benefits.
- 4 years of work experience determining eligibility for unemployment, veteran benefits, loans, financial assistance, social service programs or other similar work.
- Superb communication skills – ability to communicate with customers and co-workers from all backgrounds.
- Preference may be given to applicants who speak Spanish fluently.
