Job Summary
As an Intake Representative in our Social Security Department, you will cultivate and maintain prospective client relationships from the very start. Empathetic communications are paramount while prioritizing new leads and incoming calls with scheduled appointments. You must ensure efficient and accurate processing of claims, effective listening to identify all possible claims and the proper avenue for relief – whether a new claim, an appeal, or an upcoming hearing.
This role involves extensive communication with clients, paperwork review with a keen eye for detail, computer skills, and phone call management capabilities.
This position offers a great deal of independence, flexibility for personal styles, and responsibility over case files. It is a full‑time role with competitive pay, BCBS benefits, PTO, a bonus plan, and the opportunity for remote work.
Key Responsibilities- Manage frequent calls, prioritize scheduling to accommodate new callers and appointments, and converse with prospective clients.
- Obtain and review documents required for case acceptance, and work closely with attorneys and staff to assist new clients.
- Review incoming paperwork from various mediums and store it in the appropriate software.
- Communicate with Case Managers and Attorneys to promptly address any issues found in a file, ensuring excellent service for clients.
- Communicate with current clients and/or other government agencies when necessary to track and confirm the status of claims.
- Prior experience with SSD or VA claims and/or assisting disabled individuals in navigating the benefits process is considered; no prior training is required.
- Empathy and patience.
- Organization with attention to detail.
- High ability to multi‑task.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer software.
- In the Troy, MI office.
