The work unit exists to implement the goals and objectives of Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s strategic long range and operational plan in order to accomplish the legislative mandate of protecting, preserving, managing, and enhancing the State’s wildlife resources in the geographic area comprised of Area 17 in the San Luis Valley of the Southwest Region.
The purpose of the Area 17 customer service team is to provide high quality customer service through the sale of licenses and passes; to answer calls about wildlife issues, and advise the public about techniques to resolve or prevent human‑wildlife conflicts; and to serve as the customer interface for field officers by handling and dispatching public calls about wildlife violations, injured wildlife, and human‑wildlife conflicts.
The purpose of this position is to provide high quality customer service and administrative tasks as part of the Area 17 workgroup. This includes providing diverse customer service to CPW customers – walk in, call in, by email, and/or traditional mail. This includes sales of wildlife and state park products, maintenance of customer records, providing information through direct communication and other methods such as brochures, regulations, bulletin boards, CPW social media accounts, and other informational products.
The position operates cash registers and collects payments from customers for sales of license and passes, boat/OHV/snowmobile registrations and permits, and citations. The position answers and documents phone calls from the public and answers questions about hunting, fishing, state parks and state wildlife areas, license and permit products, wildlife, regulations, and living with wildlife and wildlife‑human conflict prevention. The position also supports internal operations through administrative duties such as dispatching calls for officers, stocking of office supplies, communication with volunteers and interns, pickup/delivery and distribution of mail, and ensures office equipment and infrastructure is clean, organized, and operational.
Serves as liaison with repair vendors, inputs information into various Apps & databases, conducts mandatory wildlife checks, and other administrative duties as assigned.
