What you'll do at Lewer:Roles and Responsibilities
As a Student Advocacy Advisor in the insurance industry, your role is essential in ensuring that students fully understand their insurance coverage by providing guidance, assistance, and support for insurance-related challenges and questions.
Your Key Areas of Impact InsuranceEducation:
You assist students and their families with health insurance related questions, ensuring they have a clear and accurate understanding of their benefits and how their coverage works. You help students apply key insurance concepts to their individual situations without overwhelming them with technical terminology. You manage multiple communication channels at once, such as online chat, phone, and email, while maintaining accuracy, empathy, and efficiency.
Your ability to translate complex information into simple, student-friendly explanations supports health literacy and positively shapes students’ experience with Lewer.
You assist students in navigating the insurance claims process, should they need to file a claim. This may involve helping them gather the necessary documentation, completing claim forms, and communicating with network liaisons or providers on their behalf. You also provide support and guidance throughout the claims process, ensuring that students understand their rights, responsibilities, and the steps involved in resolving insurance claims.
By creating a clear and supportive claims experience, you help reduce frustration and strengthen student confidence, which contributes to higher satisfaction and long-term client retention.
You connect students and their families with appropriate program resources and services to ensure they have access to expert advice and support. You identify when a student may benefit from specialized assistance and help them access the correct program contacts or tools. Your coordination supports clearer understanding of program offerings and strengthens the value the program brings to our clients.
Advocacy and Dispute Resolution:You advocate for students and their families in case of disputes or issues with providers. This may involve resolving billing discrepancies, coverage denials, or other insurance-related problems. You work with network liaisons, providers, collection agencies, or other relevant parties to address and resolve any issues that may arise, advocating for fair and equitable treatment of students. Your effectiveness in resolving issues improves student satisfaction and program loyalty.
BusinessDevelopment:
You assess students' insurance needs and help them determine the appropriate coverage (e.g., dental, vision, dependent) based on their individual circumstances. This may include evaluating their health needs, location, and other factors that impact their insurance requirements. You gather insights from student interactions that highlight trends, service gaps, and opportunities to strengthen communication or product offerings. This feedback helps support program improvements and contributes to strong relationships with clients, which benefits retention.
