The East-Central Water group is seeking a Project Architect to join our team for projects in Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana, with a focus on Water Resource Recovery (Water/Wastewater) facilities design. Candidates must be local to one of the listed offices.

In partnership with the Project Manager, Design Manager, and discipline leads, you are accountable for project design quality, performance, and team communication.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the overall design intent is incorporated into detailed documentation.
  • Monitor the design process from conceptual phase through construction administration, ensuring proper conveyance and execution of the design.
  • Develop or coordinate architectural specifications and drawings; coordinate drawings and specifications with other disciplines and consultants.
  • Check completed reports, plans, estimates, and calculations for accuracy.
  • Lead the architectural discipline strategy for document production, including Building Information Modeling (BIM) data organization and final construction drawings.
  • Communicate with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to incorporate information into project requirements.
  • Ensure construction detail documentation conforms to QA/QC and Jacobs standards.
  • Prepare technical drawings and details.
  • Coordinate approvals with municipal and other governing agencies.
  • Write technical reports and memos for client projects.
  • Attend on-site visits, field reviews, and project meetings; coordinate responses for shop drawings, RFIs, and material samples.
  • Review drawings from vendors, clients, and other designers that affect the project design.
  • Incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects.
  • Foster client service and contribute to business development through project delivery.
  • Create and maintain internal and external client relationships to secure future opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program (or foreign equivalent).
  • Licensed Architect or on track for licensure in the United States with ability to obtain reciprocity in Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Architectural Design, with preference in public works infrastructure.
  • Hybrid work adaptability with ability to lead and collaborate with design teams across locations.
  • Strong knowledge of design, construction methodology, materials, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness.
  • Knowledge of sustainability, integrated design, and green building/green infrastructure certifications.
  • Thorough knowledge of BIM and familiarity with project delivery methods (e.g., design-bid-build, design-for-design-build, design-build).
  • Proficiency with building codes and standards (IBC, NFPA, OSHA), technical report writing, and specifications.
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch Up, and Microsoft O365.
  • Ability to travel to local project sites and some regional locations.
Ideally you’ll also have
  • Experience with Water Resource Recovery facilities or similar industrial uses.
  • Proficiency in Enscape, Photoshop, and other graphics/rendering software.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu.
  • Familiarity with sustainable design software and analytical tools.
  • Experience with Dynamo, sustainable design analysis tools, and data analytics.
  • LEED AP and/or ENV SP credentials.
  • Understanding of coatings, corrosion mitigation, and related building systems.
  • Experience designing around chemical storage and feed buildings.
