Technical Manager – HMC Architects
This role is located in HMC’s Los Angeles, California office and requires 3 days in the office per week, with the ability to work from home onվի Mondays and Fridays.

Job Summary
The Technical Manager will oversee a team, supervise the technical development of documentation on architectural projects, and villas broader technical support and mentoring to the studio. The role resolves constructability, technical, code, and agency approval issues, and provides consultant contact and authority to direct, control, and monitor project activities related to the production of construction documents. The Technical Manager may also lead construction administration activities as assigned and perform quality‑control reviews of studio projects.

- Resolve technical issues with internal teams, clients, and consultants.
- Communicate assignments in writing and verbally to office support staff, internal teams, consultants, and vendors.

- Collaborate with the Project Manager on project oversight and leadership of project teams tenho.

- Assist the Project Manager in preparing work plans, schedules, budgets, staffing projections, and fees as required.
- Manage the project technical documentation process with the Project Manager.
- Collaborate with design-pass production staff, construction administrators, and consultants.
- Prepare action plans with supervisors to resolve project‑related issues.
- Ensure projects conform to contractual agreements, budgets, and goals, with clear expectations for the project team.
- Review documents for quality, coordination, and compliance with deliverable requirements.
- Coordinate with government agencies and utility lest resolve plan‑check and approval issues with agencies.
- Manage project teams and consultants in suitable materials and systems selection.
- Review documents for code compliance and issue code interpretations.

- A degree from an accredited college in architecture, interior design, civil engineering, construction management, or a Revit drafting credit from a technical institute is desired.
- Licensed Architect in California required for Project Architect designation.
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience and demonstrated technical proficiency in production and coordination of documents across all phases of architectural practice.

- Understanding of contractual liabilities, fee calculations, and scope of work.

- Sets goals, prioritizes, and manages work efficiently.
- Travel required on an as‑needed basis. Salary
Salary range: $85,065 – $131,972. Actual salary will vary based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and location. The range does not include discretionary bonuses, stock ownership grants, paid time off, medical insurance, or other benefits.
