About The Role
You will be a key participant in the design process, translating ideas into built‑environment solutions and seeing those ideas to completion. You will help nurture and develop junior designers and be a voice in your teams and office for design excellence.
Here’s What You’ll Do- In collaboration with design leaders and team members, conceptualize design solutions and develop them throughout all phases of a project. Create innovative design concepts that synthesize our clients’ culture, goals and aspirations to deliver solutions responsive specifically to them.
- Perform as a partner to design leaders, effectively translating shared design goals and ideas of both team and client into thoughtfully refined spatial and material solutions. Focus on schematic design, design development, while also collaborating closely with project architects to guide detailing and construction documentation. Provide guidance on design intent during the construction administration phase and serve as the day‑to‑day voice for design intent in matters of project execution.
- Direct the preparation of client presentation materials, particularly our 2D and 3D design visualizations, to convey the design in a compelling and sophisticated manner. You are expected to have the skills to prepare graphic presentation material yourself, but your focus should be on team development. Lead design presentations when called upon to do so in support of the project and team.
- Work within our culture of being an integrated practice by closely collaborating with interior designers and typology subject‑matter experts on holistic design solutions from exterior to interior. Foster this collaborative spirit from the earliest phases.
- Collaborate with technical leaders and engineers to employ sensitive consideration of building systems. Coordinate design intent with other disciplines.
- Integrate performance‑based and sustainable design strategies into design solutions, including supporting the building performance group in their energy‑modeling efforts.
- Apply these approaches in the design of large‑scale projects and/or multiple projects simultaneously.
- Mentor and grow emerging professionals. You will nurture an environment that exemplifies collaboration, experimentation, innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship.
- Bachelor or Master degree in Architecture required. Bachelor or Master degree in Architecture from an accredited program preferred.
- A design portfolio of past and current built and unbuilt design work with clear demonstration of some personal contribution to project conceptualization and detailed development is required. Must contain a minimum of two fully constructed building designs representing a high level of design excellence. Sole authorship of building concepts is not required.
- Minimum ten years of related professional experience.
- Architectural Registration in the United States preferred.
- LEED accreditation preferred.
- Knowledge of building codes and requirements.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Technical knowledge of exterior and interior materials and building assemblies.
- Command of Revit, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office required. Additional 3D modeling experience in Rhino or other comparable software preferred.
- Experience with one or more real‑time rendering and 3D rendering software such as Enscape, Twinmotion and/or V‑Ray required, as demonstrated through a portfolio of past and current visualization work.
- Experience with digital media creation and editing in the Adobe Creative Cloud applications required.
- Some experience in computational design tools such as Grasshopper and Dynamo preferred.
The salary range for this position is $117,000 to $146,200 annually. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
