Position Overview
The Education & Program Specialist oversees the full lifecycle of the Society's virtual learning offerings, including live online and on-demand programs. This role includes guiding activity directors, faculty, and content development, as well as coordinating accreditation, marketing, program delivery, and post-program evaluation. In addition, the Specialist coordinates the annual meeting (~100 participants) and scholarship program for the Society's subsection, SCORCH. The Specialist may also support additional educational programs or initiatives as needed and is expected to serve as onsite staff during the Society's annual meeting.
Responsibilities may evolve or shift over time to align with the Society's changing needs and strategic priorities. The position requires someone with strong project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively across internal teams and external partners, and who is comfortable working within a small virtual team environment as a self-starter who can independently manage responsibilities and consistently meet deadlines.
- In collaboration with the activity director(s), develop, deliver, and audit virtual educational offerings.
- Assist with executing operational logistics for online offerings, including, but not limited to, communicating with invited speakers, configuring the online platforms, monitoring registration, facilitating rehearsals, drafting scripts and slide decks, video editing and distribution, marketing, and post-event wrap-up.
- Upload and maintain educational content across the Society's online platforms (e.g., website, LMS, online community, etc.) and provide customer support to the platforms' users.
- Submit educational reporting as requested.
- Accomplish all aspects of meeting planning within established time frames and without significant deficiencies, including, but not limited to, developing and monitoring the budget, invoicing and billing arrangement, F&B selection, AV coordination, shipping meeting materials, monitoring registration, facilitating contract negotiations (i.e., with the hotel and outside vendors as needed), organizing transportation and social programs, and liaising with outside vendors, and post-meeting wrap-up.
- Solicit faculty and prepare related communications material. Develop, collect, and record required documentation.
- Manage the continuing education application process, including but not limited to submitting the application, and creating, distributing, tracking, and maintaining activity documentation as mandated by the accredited provider.
- Design, develop, and deliver enduring educational offerings derived from the live offering, as needed.
- Solicit leads for future meetings through proper channels, including National Sales Offices and CVB's using appropriate meeting specifications and timely follow-up.
- Oversee the application intake and review process for the SCORCH Scholarship Program, maintain accurate records, and provide comprehensive support to the Scholarship Review Committee.
- Assist with other organizational programs as needed.
- Willingly accepts duties as assigned and satisfactorily completes them within agreed-upon time frames.
- Travels to and provides onsite assistance at society meetings, as required.
SPR offers a completely remote work environment. Candidates should be able to work as part of a goal-oriented, collaborative, virtual team and be comfortable with a high level of engagement through video meetings and other online methods. When onsite, there is moderate lifting and carrying (or similar movements) of objects, including luggage and a laptop, with a maximum lift of 15-25 lbs.
In addition, repetitive hand movements with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists occur. The ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards, is necessary.
