The Project Design Coordinator is a blended role that includes office coordination, time in the field on active job sites, client meetings at showrooms, and limited work-from-home flexibility. This position plays a key role in guiding clients through the exciting process of turning their dream home ideas into reality.
Working closely with the Project Design Manager, Project Managers, drafting, and 3D design teams, the coordinator ensures selections, design changes, and visual details are accurate, organized, and aligned with each client’s vision and the CAP Custom Homes standard of excellence.
- Work directly with clients to understand their style, preferences, and budget goals.
- Guide clients through the design selection process for finishes, fixtures, cabinetry, flooring, lighting, and more.
- Meet clients at showrooms and job sites as needed to support selections and design decisions.
- Prepare and organize detailed selection sheets, pricing updates, and specification documents.
- Collaborate with the Project Design Manager to align selections with project estimates and schedules.
- Direct and communicate design changes to the drafting team, ensuring blueprint updates accurately reflect client requests.
- Review blueprint revisions with clients and coordinate adjustments to meet functional and aesthetic needs.
- Direct the 3D designer to incorporate accurate selections, materials, and finishes for realistic, true-to-life renderings.
- Review 3D renderings with clients and coordinate revisions as necessary.
- Work hand in hand with the Project Manager to ensure the client’s vision and design details are carried into construction.
- Communicate updates clearly between clients, draftsman, 3D designer, vendors, suppliers, and the construction team.
- Maintain organized records of all design-related communication, approvals, and revisions.
- Support the estimating process by gathering product data, supplier pricing, and material options.
- Ensure all selections reflect CAP’s commitment to quality, functionality, and lasting value.
- Help create a positive, smooth, and memorable client experience from design through construction.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to interpret design intent and clearly communicate it to drafting and 3D design teams.
- A creative eye for home design, finishes, and spatial coordination.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to follow-through.
- Experience with homebuilding, residential design coordination, or related fields preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a small, high-performing team environment.
- Comfort working in a blended role with time split between office, field, showrooms, and remote work.
- Proficiency in Buildertrend software, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe applications.
