Role Overview
We are seeking a User Experience Designer with a strong foundation in user centered design to help shape effective, engaging experiences for higher education products. This role emphasizes collaboration, thoughtful problem solving, and design quality, with opportunities to contribute to both execution and strategic design decisions that support learning outcomes.
You will work closely with product, content, research, and engineering partners to design endtoend experiences across web and mobile platforms in a collaborative product environment.
Key Responsibilities- Design endtoend user experiences across web and mobile platforms, from discovery through implementation
- Create high fidelity designs including user flows, screens, interactive prototypes, and detailed specifications to support engineering handoff
- Contribute to and evolve the design system, creating scalable, accessible, and consistent components and patterns
- Plan, conduct, and synthesize user research and usability testing to inform design decisions and guide iteration
- Collaborate closely with cross functional partners throughout the product lifecycle
- Advocate for user needs and learning outcomes while considering business goals and technical constraints
- Lead design for complex user experiences across platforms
- Partner with product managers to define design problems, identify opportunities, and establish success criteria
- Produce high quality designs including flows, screens, and interactive prototypes
- Design and document reusable components and patterns for the design system
- Lead or collaborate on user research initiatives, translating insights into actionable design and product recommendations
- Present design work and recommendations to stakeholders to support informed decision making
- Facilitate design workshops and collaborative sessions to drive alignment and shared understanding
- Partner with product and engineering to scope work, define timelines, and clarify outcomes
- Use data, analytics, and experimentation to evaluate and improve experiences
- Support team growth through design critiques, collaboration, and knowledge sharing
- Contribute to AIenabled teaching and learning experiences, considering learning science, ethics, and responsible design
- Experience in UX, UI, and product design
- Ability to design endtoend user experiences and complex user flows
- Proficiency with Figma, wire framing, and interactive prototyping
- Strong visual design skills and attention to detail
- Experience working within cross functional product teams
- Ability to translate research, data, and business needs into clear design solutions

This is a Contract position based out of Durham, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $69.83/hr.
