Position
Product Designer – Home & Outdoor Division (supporting OXO, Osprey, Hydro Flask, and other brands).
Location & ScheduleCortez, CO. Hybrid: 3 days onsite (Tuesday‑Thursday) with optional remote work on Mondays and Fridays.
Responsibilities- Deliver innovative seasonal gear carrying solutions and special designs, ranging from technical outdoor backpacks to travel gear, wheeled accessories, and hydration packs.
- Handle all aspects of design from concept through pre‑production, including prototyping, testing, sourcing, color/fabric/trims processes, and creating specification packages (tech‑packs).
- Conduct research on industry trends and current product functionality to inform innovative design concepts.
- Create professional product specifications and technical packages in Adobe Illustrator for product sampling.
- Conceptualize future pack designs, features, components, and accessories.
- Collaborate with the Sample Room to translate designs into manufacturable, aesthetically pleasing products.
- Prototype, test, and review design concepts to produce functional, high‑quality solutions.
- Present design thinking at product reviews using sketches, prototypes, color boards, CAD, and other visual tools.
- Interact with suppliers and developers to select appropriate materials.
- Develop custom components using CAD and rapid prototyping techniques.
- Specify pack color, trims, graphic details, and explore material manufacturing methods.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Proficiency in drawing and hand illustration.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines.
- Strong organization and record‑keeping skills.
- Flexibility to shift between projects.
- Familiarity with outdoor gear and components.
- Attention to material selection.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Product or Industrial Design.
- At least 3 years of professional product design experience in bags, packs, and soft goods.
- Portfolio submission (PDF or online) demonstrating full design process with hand‑sketching and final outcomes.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of sewn, soft and hard goods construction and material properties.
- Ability to travel internationally (15–20%) to Asia (Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, China, South Korea).
- Authorized to work full‑time in the United States.
- Passion for outdoors, cycling, and traveling.
- Sewing and pattern‑making skills.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software.
Annual base salary: $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 (Colorado). Actual compensation may vary based on location, experience, skill level, and performance.
