Responsibilities- Design product labeling and packaging graphics under general supervision according to customers’ needs and established standards, including labels, instructions for use, cartons, pouches, etc.
- Create additional design work for brochures, posters, manuals, books, advertising‑promotional materials and internet/web design.
- Use original and creative thinking to develop concepts and finished materials from rough ideas or customers’ needs.
- Collaborate closely with New Product Development teams and Packaging Engineers in the creation, design and implementation of product labeling and packaging graphics.
- Develop illustrations as needed for product labeling and packaging graphics.
- Work closely with outside services such as translation houses, service bureaus, design houses and consultants.
- Create and revise product drawings and specifications as required.
- Initiate documentation packages for artwork approval, submit quotations, place orders for engineering material, and work with suppliers.
- Approve supplier proofs and ensure communication of business‑related issues or opportunities to management.
- Perform typesetting and graphic design work for product labels.
- Release artwork to the company network or quality system, provide suppliers with necessary support documentation, and approve proofs, blue‑lines or color chromes.
- Perform documentation‑related functions including procuring part numbers, initiating, expediting, obtaining approval and release of applicable documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Federal, State, local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance and with Quality Procedures, Laws and Regulations of applicable markets.
- Responsible for computer‑generated product labeling and/or clinical labels as required.
- Develop and maintain design templates, print‑on‑demand labels and pre‑printed labels.
- Perform documentation‑related functions including procuring part numbers, initiating, expediting, obtaining approval and release of required documentation.
- Communicate business‑related issues or opportunities to the next management level.
- Ensure subordinates follow all company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition.
- Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies and procedures, and with Quality Procedures.
- Perform other duties assigned as needed.
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent education and experience; or 3+ years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with no previous professional experience.
- Appropriate degree in the industry if required (e.g., Legal).
- Knowledge of Spanish a plus.
- Advanced Mac/PC knowledge required.
- Knowledge of graphic design software required (e.g., InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.).
- Good written and oral English communication skills.
