We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Architect to join our growing residential design-build team. This position is ideal for someone with experience in New York City residential renovation projects who is looking to expand their expertise while working on high-end apartment and townhouse renovations.
The successful candidate will assist with project development from concept through construction documentation, permitting, and coordination with consultants, expediters, and Registered Architects.
Responsibilities- Develop comprehensive construction drawing sets for residential renovation projects.
- Prepare and coordinate NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) filing sets, including:
- ALT-1 filings
- ALT-2 filings
- Assist with Landmark Preservation Commission (LPC) submissions and approvals.
- Produce detailed architectural plans, elevations, sections, and construction details.
- Develop custom millwork drawings and interior elevations.
- Coordinate with Registered Architects, engineers, consultants, and expediters throughout the approval process.
- Assist with building management approvals and alteration package submissions.
- Conduct site visits for field verification, documentation, and construction coordination.
- Support project teams in maintaining drawing accuracy and consistency throughout all project phases.
- Create 3D models and renderings to support design presentations (preferred).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture.
- 2+ years of experience working on NYC residential renovation projects.
- Strong understanding of:
- NYC apartment renovations
- NYC townhouse renovations
- NYC DOB filing requirements
- ALT-1 and ALT-2 applications
- LPC/Landmarks submissions
- Building management approval processes
- Experience preparing permit and construction document sets.
- Ability to develop detailed construction details, elevations, and millwork drawings.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with expediters, Registered Architects, consultants, and contractors.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Sketch Up.
- Experience with Sketch Up, Rhino, or similar 3D modeling software.
- Ability to create high-quality renderings.
- Familiarity with construction administration and field coordination.
The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, and capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with project teams. We are looking for someone who understands the unique requirements of NYC residential renovations and can produce accurate, permit-ready documentation with minimal oversight.
