Portell Architecture is a boutique Architecture firm specializing in high‑end residential projects, primarily in Manhattan. You will be involved throughout all aspects of the project from site visits, design and documentation, to AutoCAD construction drawings, and through bidding and construction administration.
Job DescriptionOur firm is currently seeking to fill a freelance position with candidates of 1-5 years’ experience.
Pay$30-$38 /hour – Part‑time
RoleAssist with field measurements and documenting existing conditions. Assist in developing design options from early concept through design development. Prepare presentation materials and 3D models. Contribute to research, detailing, and technical development. Support production of construction documents. Assist with consultant coordination. Assist with construction administration and site visits.

- Strong communication, organizational and collaborative skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (required), Adobe Suite & 3D modelling (minimum).
- Ability to start immediately.
- Office location is in Manhattan, with remote work options.
- A comfort level with taking site measurements and translating those measurements to drawings.
- Good writing and communication skills.
- Ability to produce high‑quality detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings, including details and elevations.
- This job will require site visits in NYC, primarily Manhattan.
- Work directly with a Registered Architect, applicable to NCARB AXP candidates.
- Local candidates only; must work in NYC.
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Part‑time with flexible remote work options. This can become a full‑time position in the future.
