Position Overview

MRB Group is a multidisciplinary firm specializing in engineering, architecture, and planning services. The Architect will support the architectural team in the design and execution of municipal and private sector projects in Columbia, SC. This role provides hands‑on experience in architectural design, project documentation, and coordination within a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing architectural design concepts, drawings, and presentation materials.
  • Prepare detailed architectural drawings, plans, and construction documents using Revit or other design software under the supervision of senior architects.
  • Participate in design meetings to refine ideas and ensure alignment with client goals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external consultants, and clients to ensure effective communication and project execution.
  • Prepare design presentations and reports for municipal clients and private developers.
  • Respond to client inquiries and manage relationships to ensure satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead project‑specific management tasks in collaboration with senior architectural leadership.
  • Organize project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and permitting documents.
  • Coordinate zoning, permitting, and code compliance to meet local regulations.
  • Support site analysis and coordination with engineering and other disciplines.
  • Support sustainable design efforts, incorporating energy‑efficient solutions and materials.
  • Stay informed on architectural trends and standards to contribute innovative solutions.
  • Participate in mentoring and development opportunities to expand knowledge of municipal regulations and private sector development processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • 5‑8 years of total professional experience in architecture, with preference for work with municipal clients and private sector developers.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Sketch Up, and other design and drafting software.
  • Strong understanding of architectural design principles, building codes, and municipal regulations.
  • Familiarity with construction documentation, specifications, and project coordination.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced setting.
  • Passion for design and eagerness to grow within the architecture field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with municipal, residential, commercial, or mixed‑use projects.
  • LEED Green Associate or other sustainability certifications.
  • Knowledge of site analysis and environmental considerations in architectural design.
