The pay range is $73,000.00 - $. Pay is based on factors such as labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications. Aboutthe Role
A role with the Design team involves owning the design and development of Target-owned brands across categories. You will support and be responsible for product brands and/or categories to meet overall product design strategy and merchant objectives. You will work under Design leadership with an assigned category, brand, business, or guest segment, managing your own process and calendar. You will maintain a diligent workload, including timely communication with internal and external partners, and support concepts throughout the development process (research, material/finish selection, and silhouette/form language creation).
You will translate ideas into product direction using CAD and hand sketches, and prepare professional presentation boards with illustrations, CAD artwork, fabrication, and material samples. You will help drive product designs to maintain creative direction, merchant line plans, assortment strategies, and price points. You will collaborate with peers to ensure brand cohesion and work with technical designers/engineers and sourcing partners to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve product issues.
- Support and drive concepts throughout the development process, including research and material/finish selection.
- Translate ideas into product direction using CAD and hand sketches; prepare presentation boards and sample materials.
- Maintain overall creative direction in alignment with merchant line plans, assortment strategies, and price points.
- Collaborate with peers across the division to ensure brand cohesion and continuity.
- Work with technical designers/engineers and sourcing partners to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve product issues.
- Four-year degree in Design, Fine Art, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of relevant design experience.
- Computer design system skills including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop; experience in CAD illustration or 2D/3D software.
- Knowledge of textiles, garment construction/fit, raw materials, and product production.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and build collaborative relationships in a team environment.
This position operates as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day arrangement based on Target’s needs. The core role may require working onsite at the Target HQ MN location and virtually, depending on tasks for that day. Work duties cannot be performed outside the country of the primary work location unless otherwise prescribed by Target policy.
