Position Overview
ICF is seeking a Principal Landscape Architect with experience in ecological restoration, water resources planning, and business development. The role supports the Pacific Northwest Ecosystem Restoration, Landscape Architecture, and Engineering Practice from Portland, OR or Seattle, WA, or remotely within the PNW. This is a flexible hourly position of up to 4 hours per week, with the option to increase hours as projects expand.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with cross‑regional practice members and interdisciplinary teams to develop a business development strategy for the PNW.
- Lead or contribute to the design of ecological restoration projects.
- Lead or contribute to the design of parks, trails, and open space projects.
- Provide technical review of construction documents, including plans, estimates of probable construction costs, and technical specifications.
- Lead or contribute to business development activities, building relationships with potential clients and teaming partners.
- Lead or contribute to proposal development, including scopes of work, schedules, and budgets.
- Mentor junior landscape architects, engineers, and restoration designers.
- Maintain a positive, curious, organized, innovative, committed, self‑motivated, and supportive presence in the local office and regional practice.
- Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture.
- 20+ years of experience leading the analysis and design of ecological restoration and landscape architecture projects and leading business development in the PNW.
- Strong background in river and floodplain restoration, fish passage improvements, wetland and other ecological restoration, parks, trails, and open space design, and public and stakeholder outreach.
- Experience leading technical studies and preparing conceptual and detailed design plans for ecological restoration and parks, trails, and open space projects in Oregon and/or Washington.
- Experience leading and working collaboratively on multidisciplinary teams of engineers, ecologists, landscape architects, and other technical experts.
- Self‑directed ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams to meet client and project needs.
- Strong business development acumen and ability to identify and position for new project work.
- Strong written, communication, and computer skills with attention to detail.
