Job Overview
Private label and brand‑manufacturing company seeks a Strong Sweater/Knits Technical Designer. Extensive experience in knits and sweaters, along with the ability to prepare and edit spec packages, is required. The role involves handling all fittings on live models and mannequins, sending comments, coordinating with design, generating specs, and implementing corrections as needed. Candidates should be organized, detail‑oriented, and possess excellent communication skills.
This position is primarily responsible for maintaining consistency of fit and quality throughout the fit‑development process and for writing technical specifications as appropriate by brand. The designer evaluates garment fit integrity and implements construction of all styles within the scope of responsibility, working closely with senior technical designers to broaden technical knowledge and elevate product quality. Brand integrity is maintained while keeping the customer in mind.
Responsibilities- Audit fit specifications on live models and mannequins using appropriate samples of assigned products.
- Make recommendations in collaboration with peer teams on specs, pattern, construction methods, and techniques to improve fit, balance, and overall garment quality.
- Execute tech packs from concept to PP/TOP for assigned and additional product classifications as directed.
- Partner with the Technical Design Team, Merchants, and Designers to establish fit direction and garment details.
- Communicate with vendors regarding fit, specs, and construction; maintain accurate records of reports and vendor communications.
- Organize and prioritize daily workload of assigned product lines to meet all deadlines.
- Support Senior Technical Designers in measuring and prepping for fit.
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years in the apparel industry in technical design.
- Proficiency in Web PDM or comparable software, computer literacy including Excel, Word, PRM, and Adobe Illustrator.
- Good understanding of fit, balance, and garment construction.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time‑management skills.
- High level of self‑motivation and creative problem‑solving ability.
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- 4 days in office; one day work from home or in office as needed.
Salary: $75,000 - $80,000 per year.
