Materials Specialist

The Materials Specialist is an indispensable primary project team member who takes ownership of discipline‑specific work on projects with increasing knowledge and sensitivity to the contributions of other disciplines. They constantly collaborate with the design and architecture teams to develop thoughtful and accurate FF&E specifications and oversee and coordinate production of deliverables. A Materials Specialist contributes to the cultivation of client and vendor relationships while building trust as an advisor in their discipline.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with the design and architecture teams to specify finishes and furnishings
- Research current trends and distribute inspirational resources to support creativity and innovation
- Maintain an updated and organized material resource library
- Coordinate with A&D reps on product updates and project needs
- Oversee and coordinate production of material and specification deliverables
- A bachelor’s degree in Interior Design
- A minimum of 2-5 years experience
- Proficiency in Adobe suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Sketch Up, and Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with Blue Beam is a plus.
- Understanding of the latest trends and their role within retail and commercial environments
- Enthusiasm and growth mindset for solving complex human challenges using design and a demonstrated ability to tell compelling brand stories
- Love of working collaboratively with a team and mentoring junior designers
- Bonus points if you have previous retail design experience
