Electrical BIM Designer
The Electrical BIM Designer supports complex industrial and commercial construction projects by creating, maintaining, and coordinating detailed 3D electrical models. This role requires strong proficiency in Revit, hands-on experience with LOD 350–400 electrical work, and familiarity with electrical trades. The designer ensures model accuracy, supports BIM and VDC processes, and provides remote coordination to field operations to align design intent with construction execution.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain accurate 3D electrical models in Revit that comply with project requirements, industry standards, and established BIM/VDC workflows.
- Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and other external stakeholders to ensure consistent, coordinated models across all disciplines.
- Perform clash detection using appropriate BIM coordination tools to identify and resolve conflicts between electrical systems and other building systems.
- Work in close coordination with MEP teams to produce integrated, clash-free designs that support constructability and field installation.
- Support field operations remotely by integrating 3D scans and field data into project models and ensuring accurate representation of site conditions.
- Prepare, update, and manage technical documentation, including drawings, schedules, sleeve drawings, embedded field points, and coordinated shop drawings.
- Conduct quality checks on models and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project standards and deadlines.
- Apply knowledge of BIM and VDC technologies to improve modeling processes, enhance coordination, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Utilize digital collaboration tools to facilitate communication, model sharing, and accessibility for project teams and field personnel.
- Contribute to large-scale projects in a fully remote environment while maintaining clear communication and coordination with cross-functional teams.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in VDC/BIM modeling, preferably focused on electrical systems.
- Strong proficiency in Revit (rated 8/10), including the ability to create, modify, and manage detailed 3D models for electrical disciplines.
- Experience working with LOD 350–400 electrical models to support construction-level detailing and coordination.
- Proficiency in producing sleeve drawings, embedded field points, and coordinating shop drawings for electrical installations.
- Hands-on experience performing electrical design tasks such as routing conduit and designing cable tray systems.
- Experience working on industrial or commercial construction projects using BIM workflows.
- Proficiency with BIM and clash detection tools used for model coordination and issue resolution.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD for supporting design and documentation needs alongside Revit models.
- Demonstrated ability to support BIM/VDC processes and collaborate effectively with cross-functional design and construction teams.
- Must have experience with Evolve Electrical for advanced electrical modeling and detailing.
Skills & Qualifications
