We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Assistant Designer / Fabric R&D Assistant . This dual role supports both the Design and Fabric R&D teams through fabric research, sourcing and development, while also assisting with the overall design process.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of textiles and design, a keen eye for detail, and is highly organized, proactive, and eager to learn. This role requires someone who can manage multiple priorities, communicate clearly, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced creative environment.
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Assistant Designer / Fabric R&D Assistant . This dual role supports both the Design and Fabric R&D teams through fabric research, sourcing and development, while also assisting with the overall design process.

Key Responsibilities Fabric Research and Development- Organize and maintain fabric submits, swatches, samples, seasonal binders, and physical fabric records.
- Maintain accurate digital fabric records, including style information, pricing, images, delivery dates, and Fabric Detail Sheets.
- Communicate fabric approvals, comments, sourcing requests, and development needs to vendors following review with the Fabric R&D Manager.
- Track and follow up on outstanding pricing, documentation, samples, and vendor submissions to support seasonal deadlines.
- Prepare and organize fabrics, sales samples, and production samples for line reviews, fabric approvals, and weekly TOP reviews.
- Create and maintain tech packs, including cover pages, BOMs, fabric pages, reference imagery, and technical updates for new styles, recolors, and refabrications.
- Review and respond to 3D CADs, prototype photos, and sample feedback, incorporating updates into sketches and technical documentation as needed.
- Assist with sketching, CAD fills, colorways, accessories, and updates to existing styles.
- Maintain and update line guides, including style information, fabric details, style notes, drops, and seasonal setup.
- Prepare samples and materials for line reviews, photoshoots, fittings, and other cross-functional meetings.
- Organize, receive, unpack, and maintain samples, fabrics, trims, and development materials.
- Coordinate shipment of samples and fabrics to vendors and support communication related to product development.
- Associate degree in Fashion Design, Textile Science, Apparel Development, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in fabric development, textile sourcing, apparel design, product development, or a related assistant-level role.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when maintaining records, tracking samples, and entering information.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally with vendors and internal teams.
- Proactive follow-up skills and the ability to track outstanding requests through completion.
- Comfortable handling, organizing, and maintaining physical fabric samples and development materials.
- Proficiency with Google Drive, spreadsheets, and digital tracking systems.
- Strong understanding of fabrics, textiles, apparel construction, and the product development process.
This is a hybrid position requiring four days per week in the office and one work-from-home day.
The daily schedule will generally be split between the two functions, with the first half of the day focused on Fabric R&D and the second half supporting Design. Friday’s schedule will be determined weekly based on team priorities and business needs.
