Based in New Canaan, CT, our rapidly growing firm is looking to expand our team and are seeking a highly motivated junior interior designer. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for an energetic and positive person with a passion for Interior Design and desire and willingness to learn all aspects of the business. Reporting to the Senior Designers, the Junior Designer provides design and administrative support to the Interior Design team and is the glue of the team. They are an integral part of the team that helps the firm exceed client expectations and operate and execute high quality work efficiently and smoothly.

Key Responsibilities Support Designers with Design Projects
  • Create furniture layouts and space planning in CAD
  • Assist with researching and sourcing fabrics, furniture, accessories and fixtures and aide in preparing concepts and presentations
  • Create in Excel finish schedules: tile, plumbing, hardware, paint, etc.
  • Enter specifications in Studio Designer and assist in preparation of proposals, executing purchase orders and expediting
  • Maintain organization of extensive fabric library
  • Attend and support with furniture deliveries and installations
  • Request quotes and back up pricing for all selected items for client proposals
  • Request CFAs
  • Call showrooms to check stock, lead-time, etc.
  • Obtain samples for clients
  • Assist with site measurements, installations and photo shoots
  • Coordinate post installation returns
  • Effectively manage time to juggle multiple responsibilities and shifting priorities, being flexible to shift gears when required
Social Media Support
  • Understand the overall concept of the firm, including the brand, aesthetic and clientele
  • Working closely with marketing team, maintain active presence with relevant, timely and on-brand posts on social media platforms (Instagram, Pinterest)
  • Interact with followers and potential clients by communicating and answering questions through the firm’s social media platforms
General Office Support
  • Order supplies
  • Help maintain an inviting and organized office environment
  • Receive, inspect and track inventory of accessories and perform periodic (quarterly or biannually) inventory audits
  • Enter billable hours on weekly basis
Qualifications Experience
  • 1-3 years experience in interior design or a successful internship at a high-end, luxury residential design firm
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture highly preferred
  • Basic knowledge of product and the market including High Point manufacturers
  • Basic knowledge of showrooms in NYC (e.g. D&D Building, 200 LEX)
  • Experience with social media platforms (e.g. Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Linked In, etc.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Proficient in Google Docs, Microsoft Office with emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel
  • Proficient in Chief Architect or other 3D modeling software, Sketch Up is a plus
  • Familiarity with Studio Designer (or equivalent design management program) is a plus
  • Must be able to travel to client installations in out of state locations. Our current projects are in Fairfield County, CT;
    Westchester and Long Island, New York; and Palm Beach, Florida.
  • The position works primarily in-office with occasional remote work with approval
  • Must have reliable transportation and a reasonable commute to office located in New Canaan, CT
