The On-Site Project Manager / Landscape Construction Coordinator is a part-time, hybrid role based in San Diego, CA, with a mix of on-site project work and remote coordination. Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing landscape construction activities, coordinating with contractors and vendors, and ensuring that projects are installed according to design intent, budget, and schedule. The role involves site visits for quality control, documenting progress, and resolving on-the-ground issues in collaboration with the design team.
The coordinator will review plans and specifications, prepare or update project schedules, manage communication between stakeholders, and support permitting or inspections as needed. Remote work will focus on planning, documentation, reporting, and communication to keep projects moving smoothly from design through completion.
- Experience in construction project management, particularly in landscape architecture, site development, or related fields.
- Knowledge of landscape construction practices, including grading, planting, irrigation, hardscape installation, and site safety protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical details, and communicate them clearly to field teams.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills, including scheduling, tracking milestones, and managing multiple projects at various stages.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with designers, contractors, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Comfort with hybrid work, including reliable transportation for local site visits in San Diego, CA, and capacity to work independently from home.
- Proficiency with basic digital tools (email, spreadsheets, project management or scheduling software); experience with design or CAD tools is a plus.
- Understanding of sustainable landscape principles, ecological restoration, and water-wise design is highly beneficial.
- Prior experience in landscape construction oversight, site supervision, or similar roles; relevant certifications or a degree in landscape architecture, construction management, or a related discipline are preferred but not required.
