Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: New York

Wish You Were Here Group is a national restaurant group with an in-house interior design team creating thoughtful, detail-driven interiors across residential and commercial projects. Across a combination of new-build and full gut renovation restaurant projects with select high-end residential renovations, we bring a distinct point of view to every project — and we're looking for a talented designer to grow with us.

The Role

We're seeking an Interior Designer with 3–5 years of professional experience to take on meaningful responsibility across all phases of design — from concept development through installation. You'll work closely with the principal on a mix of residential and commercial projects, managing your own work streams and serving as a day-to-day point of contact for department heads, vendors, and contractors.

Restaurant design and construction administration experience is required.

This is a hybrid role: you'll split your time between our NYC studio, project sites, and remote work.

What You'll Do
  • Design ideation and initial meetings with principal & stakeholders
  • Coordinate, attend and lead stakeholder & site meetings
  • Manage and coordinate vendors and trades to organize project schedules effectively and push the project forward
  • Construction administration: strong communication and management of on-site builders or trades; providing diligent site supervision with a focus on design implementation and quality control; proactively managing WYWHG and contractor communication
  • Strong understanding of basic construction means and methods
  • Sourcing of architectural materials and finishes & FF+E
  • Preparation of design presentations
  • Develop custom furniture details and collaborate with vendors for fabrication
  • General file management of all project and client related documents
  • Manage budgets and review payment requisitions from contractors
  • Maintain strong vendor communication and visual communications
  • Create 3D visualizations and renderings to communicate design intent (Sketch Up, Enscape, or similar)
  • Manage and maintain daily communication with owner & principal and manage all client expectations
  • Manage project schedules, ensuring the accuracy, timely installation and quality of all aspects of a remodel project
  • Work seamlessly with the principal and owner to manage all aspects of all assigned projects, including weekly/bi-weekly update calls
What We're Looking For
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Google Suite
  • Clear communication skills, internally and externally
  • Understanding and reading consultants’ coordination drawings and backgrounds
  • Leadership qualities; ability to delegate to junior team and give clear and direct communication" ] }
