Wish You Were Here Group is a national restaurant group with an in-house interior design team creating thoughtful, detail-driven interiors across residential and commercial projects. Across a combination of new-build and full gut renovation restaurant projects with select high-end residential renovations, we bring a distinct point of view to every project — and we're looking for a talented designer to grow with us.
The RoleWe're seeking an Interior Designer with 3–5 years of professional experience to take on meaningful responsibility across all phases of design — from concept development through installation. You'll work closely with the principal on a mix of residential and commercial projects, managing your own work streams and serving as a day-to-day point of contact for department heads, vendors, and contractors.
Restaurant design and construction administration experience is required.
This is a hybrid role: you'll split your time between our NYC studio, project sites, and remote work.
What You'll Do- Design ideation and initial meetings with principal & stakeholders
- Coordinate, attend and lead stakeholder & site meetings
- Manage and coordinate vendors and trades to organize project schedules effectively and push the project forward
- Construction administration: strong communication and management of on-site builders or trades; providing diligent site supervision with a focus on design implementation and quality control; proactively managing WYWHG and contractor communication
- Strong understanding of basic construction means and methods
- Sourcing of architectural materials and finishes & FF+E
- Preparation of design presentations
- Develop custom furniture details and collaborate with vendors for fabrication
- General file management of all project and client related documents
- Manage budgets and review payment requisitions from contractors
- Maintain strong vendor communication and visual communications
- Create 3D visualizations and renderings to communicate design intent (Sketch Up, Enscape, or similar)
- Manage and maintain daily communication with owner & principal and manage all client expectations
- Manage project schedules, ensuring the accuracy, timely installation and quality of all aspects of a remodel project
- Work seamlessly with the principal and owner to manage all aspects of all assigned projects, including weekly/bi-weekly update calls
- Critical thinking skills
