Project Manager - Architecture San Francisco | Hybrid | $110,000-$150,000

An established architecture and planning practice is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its collaborative San Francisco studio. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident architectural project leader to manage meaningful education, senior-living and wellness projects from early concept through construction and final closeout. You will take ownership of project delivery, lead multidisciplinary teams and act as a trusted partner to clients.

The position offers genuine autonomy, close access to senior leadership and a defined pathway toward Associate, Senior Associate, Associate Principal and Principal-level opportunities.

The Role

Lead projects through feasibility, conceptual design, design development, construction documentation, construction administration and closeout. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors and internal project teams. Establish and manage project scope, fees, work plans, staffing requirements, budgets and schedules. Collaborate with project principals during pursuits, fee development, proposals and contract negotiations. Lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams, creating a positive and accountable working environment.

Coordinate consultant proposals, appointments, deliverables and technical information. Manage several concurrent projects while maintaining design quality, technical rigour and excellent client service. Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts, design challenges and technical issues before they affect delivery. Maintain clear project communication through meetings, agendas, minutes and written documentation. Oversee construction administration, including site observations, RFIs, submittals, change orders and contractor coordination.

Review project documents for accuracy, completeness, constructability and code compliance. Protect design intent while balancing programme, budget and contractual requirements. Manage project risk and respond proactively to client concerns or potential liabilities. Mentor developing architects and designers through regular feedback, guidance and hands-on leadership. Support selected marketing, relationship-building and business-development activities.

What We're Looking For
  • At least seven years of architectural project-management experience.
  • Relevant project experience in education, senior living, wellness or comparable building types.
  • A bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related discipline-or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • An active California architectural licence is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience managing architectural projects from early design through construction.
  • Strong knowledge of project scope, contracts, fees, staffing, schedules and consultant coordination.
  • Confidence managing clients and leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent written, verbal and organisational skills.
  • Sound technical judgment and familiarity with building codes and construction documentation.
  • The ability to work from the San Francisco studio at least three days per week.
  • Applicants must already be authorised to work in the United States.
  • Employment-visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Why Join?

The practice hires for long-term careers rather than individual projects. You can expect:

  • A clear, performance-based route into senior leadership.
  • Structured mentorship, professional-development programmes and continuing education.
  • The opportunity to manage projects with visible community impact.
  • Direct involvement with clients, consultants and firm leadership.
  • A genuinely collaborative studio environment.
  • Flexible working arrangements, including limited remote working.
