Creative Design / Digital Art, Graphic Designer
UX Architecture Studio is a Cambridge, MA-based design firm founded in 2019. We center our work on user experience—design that puts the people who use a space first. We work across architecture, way finding & signage, and interiors, on institutional, cultural, and transit/airport projects, often in collaboration with larger firms. Because we're small, the work isn't compartmentalized—everyone designs, draws, and helps shape ideas across every phase of a project.
RoleUX Architecture Studio is looking for a Wayfinding Designer with three to seven years of experience in way finding & signage to join our growing team. Much of our current work involves signage and way finding for a major international airport, alongside institutional and cultural projects. In this role you will:
- Research and analyze existing conditions and conduct precedent studies
- Solve complex informational, visual, and navigational challenges with original, well-considered design
- Develop way finding strategies rooted in how people actually move through and understand space
- Design typographic layouts, environmental graphics, and sign structures in both 2D and 3D
- Produce drawing sets that include scaled technical drawings, sign location plans, and sign schedules, and map user flows, processes, and visitor journeys
- Help keep projects on schedule and within budget
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, and project teams to deliver excellent design work
- Produce clear and compelling diagrams and information for presentations to clients and stakeholders
- Undergraduate degree in graphic design, industrial design, architecture, or a related field
- Three to seven years of experience in way finding, signage, or environmental graphics
- Strong design skills, and curious, analytical, and creative approach to problem-solving
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator (& CADTools), InDesign, and Photoshop
- Familiarity with Revit is a plus
- Comfort reading and interpreting architectural drawings, working in architectural scale, and detailing signs
- A solid grounding in typography, color, and information design for legibility
- Collaborative, adaptable, and ready to take on projects of any size
We offer a salary commensurate with experience, paid vacation, sick days, federal holidays, and health insurance. This is a hybrid/full-time position based in our Cambridge, MA office, though fully remote work may be considered. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
