Role OverviewEyebot is seeking a licensed Optometrist (OD) to provide weekend clinical coverage as a 1099 independent contractor. This fully remote role focuses on reviewing kiosk-based vision test sessions and issuing eyeglass prescriptions during established weekend operating hours. You will apply clinical judgment within a structured, technology-enabled workflow to ensure safe, accurate, and timely prescription delivery. This engagement is structured for weekend-only coverage at the outset, with the option to expand to weekday coverage in the future upon mutual agreement.
Note:
We are seeking an Optometrist currently licensed in the state of Pennsylvania. Licensure in additional states is a plus, as opportunities for expansion into other states will be available in the future.
- Clinical Review & Prescribing:
Review and interpret kiosk-based vision test session data in accordance with established clinical standards; craft eyeglass correction settings and issue prescriptions when clinically appropriate; identify sessions requiring escalation and refer patients to in-person optometrists or ophthalmologists; ensure consistency, accuracy, and patient safety across all reviews. - Clinical Communication & Quality:
Escalate complex or edge-case clinical situations appropriately; provide feedback on recurring trends or workflow improvements; participate in occasional remote clinical alignment meetings, as needed. - Schedule:
Saturday 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM EST & Sunday 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM EST; fully remote; opportunity to expand to additional weekday coverage in the future upon mutual agreement.
Eyebot will provide a company-issued iPad and web portal configured for secure clinical access and compliance purposes. The device will be managed in accordance with Eyebot’s IT and data security protocols.
Qualifications- Doctor of Optometry (OD) from an accredited institution and substantive clinical experience in direct patient care
- Active optometry license in good standing (Having multiple state licenses is a plus)
- Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail
- Comfortable working within structured, technology-enabled clinical workflows
- Ability to work independently and meet defined turnaround expectations
- Reliable internet access and appropriate remote workspace
- Compensation will be determined based on experience, clinical background, and the number of active state licenses held.
- Contractors licensed in multiple states may be eligible for enhanced compensation, reflecting expanded prescribing coverage across jurisdictions.
- As Eyebot expands into additional states, contractors may be requested to obtain additional state licensure. Subject to prior approval, Eyebot may reimburse reasonable and customary costs associated with obtaining and maintaining additional state licenses required for coverage.
