About the Position
Step into a high-impact leadership role where clinical expertise meets population health strategy. We’re seeking a  Board-Certified Family Medicine physician  to serve as an  Associate Medical Director  for a managed care organization in  Dallas, TX . This is a  13-week locum assignment  with a strong pathway to  permanent placement , starting  fully remote  and transitioning to a  hybrid model  upon conversion to permanent.

In this role, you’ll provide hands-on clinical oversight, guide utilization management decisions, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, cost-effective care for members—while influencing policy, quality, and system-wide improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Review prior authorizations and appeals for medical necessity

Conduct peer-to-peer reviews to support utilization management

Provide clinical oversight across utilization, disease, quality, and pharmacy management

Contribute to medical policies, clinical guidelines, and evidence-based standards

Analyze provider performance data and support credentialing and compliance reviews

Assist with fraud, waste, and abuse clinical oversight

Participate in state and local clinical activities and committees

Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and outcomes

Support provider and member education and health promotion efforts

Required Qualifications

Board Certified in Family Medicine

Active Texas license  or willingness to obtain

Managed care and prior authorization experience

Familiarity with Texas Medicaid regulations

Clean malpractice and license history

Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
