Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Psychiatrist for RSH CAPS. Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Provides direct psychiatric care to students including, but not limited to, diagnostic evaluations, crisis intervention, initiation and management of psychotropic medications, and psychotherapy (as indicated).
- Assesses and refers patients for psychiatric hospitalization.
- Consults and collaborates with other health care providers, both within the University and in the community at-large.
- Consults and collaborates with University staff, faculty and officials as indicated. Is involved with outreach to the student population as requested.
- Acts as preceptor for mental health professional students and residents.
- Attends and actively participates in both administrative and clinical meetings.
- Participates in and assists with Quality Program and needs assessments to improve current programs and develop innovative programs/services to meet the students' needs for mental health services on campus.
- Maintains and updates medical knowledge by seeking continuing education opportunities, reading current literature, maintaining certification in CPR and state and national medical certifications, and participates as member of Rutgers University Health Services-NB/P committees.
$125 hourly

Minimum Education and Experience
- Graduation from approved medical school with an M.D. or D.O. degree and completion of an American Psychiatric Association approved residency in Psychiatry.
- Medical license in the state of NJ and active DEA license.
- Must be board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
- Experience providing psychiatric care to the young adult population, preferably in the college mental health setting.
- Experience treating patients with comorbid substance use disorders, eating disorders, and ADHD.
- Current knowledge of adolescent medicine.
- Ability to work at a pace consistent with the health center's needs to ensure that students are processed in a timely manner.
- Ability to cope with interruptions, multiple tasks, and stress of dealing with multiple patients at a fast pace (especially during peak workload).
- Ability to make appropriate client observations.
- Computer skills to perform telehealth services, if needed.
- Ability to complete documentation in a timely manner in accordance with CAPS policies.
- Demonstrated commitment to student-centered practices anchored in social justice with a focus on equity for students belonging to historically marginalized and underrepresented groups.
- Commitment to dismantling systems and policies that foster systems of inequity and injustice in a clinical setting while promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within CAPS.
