Carilion Clinic and the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine are experiencing exciting growth. You’ll hold an academic appointment and actively contribute to teaching medical students, residents, and fellows—helping shape the next generation while expanding your own academic footprint.

This hospital-based role includes the ability to work from home part of the time through telemedicine, along with limited weekend call responsibilities—giving you balance while maintaining meaningful clinical engagement.

You’ll work alongside multidisciplinary teams across Addiction Medicine, Women’s Health, Geriatrics, and more. Opportunities in integrated care, collaborative care models, and quality improvement allow you to deepen your clinical impact and diversify your experience.

Join a rapidly expanding Psychiatry Residency program, including a new Community Psychiatry track at Carilion New River Valley. Your contributions will directly influence program development and training excellence.

Based at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center in Radford, VA, you’ll provide consultation-liaison psychiatry services across medical and surgical units, supported by:

• A 110-bed hospital with 32 inpatient psychiatry beds
• A robust outpatient psychiatry clinic and OBOT program
• System-wide telemedicine reach across seven hospitals, including rural and critical access sites
• Dedicated mental health care coordinators and a 24/7 call center
• A distinct 24/7 Emergency Psychiatry team that covers all Emergency Departments
• Access to specialized services like Interventional Psychiatry, Brain Injury Medicine, and Geriatric Psychiatry

• Fellowship training in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry or
• Combined training (IM-Psychiatry, FP-Psychiatry, or similar) or
• Significant (2+ years) experience in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry
