Position Overview
Ochsner Health System and Louisiana State University Health Science Center—Shreveport is seeking a full‑time Chief of the Section of Cardiology. The role will lead a group of cardiologists, advise the Chairperson on faculty and staff hiring, and oversee clinical care for patients on the Cardiology service and Coronary Care Unit.
Key Responsibilities- Promote clinical production and create opportunities in all department sections
- Lead by example in clinical excellence and productivity
- Maintain the clinical schedule and ensure coverage for all clinical areas
- Review and submit annual financial reports and budget requests
- Optimize clinic operations through appropriate staffing, coordination with APPs, scheduling, nurses, MAs and other staff, and resource utilization in partnership with leadership
- Develop and monitor goals and business plans for all department sections
- Create, implement and review quality metrics for faculty
- Assist in developing community outreach resources and programs
- Participate in leadership discussions regarding operations, clinical needs, barriers and services
- Lead and supervise regularly scheduled educational meetings
- Maintain office hour availability Monday–Friday outside clinical responsibilities
- Oversee care of patients on the Cardiology service and Coronary Care Unit
- Provide consultative care to other university physicians for patients with cardiac illnesses
- Undertake procedures necessary for patient care in Cardiology
- M.D., eligible for medical licensure and clinical practice in Louisiana
- Board‑Certified or Board‑Eligible in Cardiology
- Evidence of experience in Cardiology
- Competency in interpreting EKGs, echocardiograms, stress tests, cardiac catheterization and related tests; capable of managing both acute and chronic cardiac patients
- Excellent communication skills to interface with learners, faculty, healthcare teams, administrators, community organizations and donors
- J1 and H1B visa holders welcome to apply
- Proven record of administrative and academic leadership
- Demonstrated experience and accomplishments in Cardiology
