Position: Locum GYN Pathologist / Cytopathologist (On-Site Houston and/or Remote Digital Pathology Coverage)
Locum GYN Pathologist / Cytopathologist (On-Site Houston and/or Remote Digital Pathology Coverage)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced GYN Pathologist/Cytopathologist to provide locum tenens and vacation coverage for an established women's health pathology practice.

Coverage needs may include both digital gynecologic cytology and gynecologic surgical pathology. Due to current platform requirements, digital gynecologic cytology cases must be reviewed on-site in Houston and are not approved for home review. Digital pathology (histology) cases may be eligible for remote interpretation from a home office setting, subject to applicable validation, credentialing, and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will be available to provide coverage assignments of one to two weeks at a time in Houston and possess the expertise necessary to seamlessly cover for the primary pathologist during planned absences.

All candidates must successfully complete slide testing and validation requirements prior to providing coverage services.

Schedule & Coverage Model
  • Locum tenens and vacation coverage opportunities.
  • Typical assignments consist of one- to two-week coverage periods.
  • On-site presence in Houston is required for digital gynecologic cytology interpretation.
  • Remote digital pathology (histology) interpretation may be available depending on qualifications and operational requirements.
  • Candidates must demonstrate competency through slide testing before participating in case sign-out.
  • No frozen section responsibilities.
  • No call responsibilities.
Qualifications Required
  • MD or DO degree.
  • Board certification in Anatomic Pathology (AP) or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP).
  • Active Texas medical license or eligibility for Texas licensure.
  • Demonstrated expertise in gynecologic pathology and/or gynecologic cytology.
  • Ability to independently sign out gynecologic cytology and surgical pathology cases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional presence with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and laboratory personnel.
Preferred

  • Experience with digital pathology and digital cytology workflows.
  • Prior experience providing independent locum or coverage services.
