Position: Rheumatologist – Remote (PRN / 1099 Independent Contractor)

SUMMARY

Avel eCare, a leader in delivering specialty telemedicine across the U.S., is seeking a Rheumatologist to join our Specialty Clinic team as a PRN / 1099 Independent Contractor. This role offers you the freedom to practice remotely while ensuring that patients in underserved populations gain access to critical rheumatology expertise. As a
Rheumatologist
, you will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of rheumatologic conditions such as arthritis, lupus, fibromyalgia, and other autoimmune disorders. You will provide consultations via telemedicine platforms, allowing you to offer accessible and convenient care to patients from the comfort of your own home.

General Hours of Work: 4 hours/week with potential to increase

Exempt/Nonexempt: Non-exempt

Department/Unit: Specialty Clinic

Hours/FTE: PRN

Reports To: Avel eCare Medical Director

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Conduct remote consultations with patients to assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for rheumatic and autoimmune diseases.
  • Offer personalized care and evidence-based treatment options for conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, lupus, spondyloarthropathies, and others.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications, including disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs), biologics, and other treatments.
  • Provide patient education on managing chronic conditions and improving quality of life.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records through our electronic health record system.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including primary care providers and physical therapists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Stay up to date with the latest developments and best practices in rheumatology and telemedicine.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • MD or DO degree required.
  • A minimum of 1 year practice experience in Rheumatology.
  • Telemedicine experience preferred but not required.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS
  • Active DEA certification and

    Board Certification/Board Eligible in Rheumatology.
  • At leastone unrestricted state license(any state in the U.S.).
