Assistant Professor (CHS)

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin is recruiting an exceptional Pediatric Inpatient Acute Care Cardiologist to join our nationally recognized Division of Cardiology. We are looking for candidates with a track record of clinical excellence and interest in education as demonstrated through training and/or practice experience.

This position is being offered with two vacancies. One vacancy includes a portion of time dedicated to taking on the role of the Director of Pediatric Inpatient Acute Care Cardiology.

Candidates should have demonstrated excellence in clinical care and a commitment to patient- and family-centered practice.

Candidates should have strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary environment.

Candidates should have a commitment to education, quality improvement, and collaborative care.

This position is full or part-time, 50%-100%.

This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles:
Clinical Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Assistant Professor, Professor (CHS), Associate Professor (CHS), Assistant Professor (CHS), Visiting Professor, or Visiting Associate Professor. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.

Key

Job Responsibilities:
  • Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health (applicable to Physicians hired on the Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) track). An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
  • Engage in clinical teaching of fellows, residents, and medical students, and support the teaching and clinical research missions of the division and department.
  • Leadership opportunities within the Pediatric Inpatient Acute Care Cardiology team or the division of Pediatric Cardiology, may be available to qualified candidates, based on previous leadership experience.
  • Provide pediatric inpatient acute cardiac care to patients at the American Family Children's Hospital, UnityPoint Meriter Hospital and general cardiology clinics at designated regional locations and/or through remote contracted inpatient call and imaging coverage.
  • Carry out independent research/scholarly activity in an area of interest (CHS Track only).

Required Qualifications:
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Pediatric Cardiology through the American Board of Pediatrics is required by appointment start date.
  • Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Pediatric Cardiology is required by the appointment start date.
  • Completion of an ACGME-approved pediatric residency program is required by the start date of the position.
  • WI Medical license by start date of position.
  • Board-certified in Pediatrics by start date of position.
  • Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges, by the start date of the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CT or CHS track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS or CT track.
Education:
  • MD, DO, or equivalent is required
