Cardiac Anesthesiologist

Anesthesia Specialists of Bethlehem is seeking a full-time, partnership-track anesthesiologist with fellowship training in cardiac anesthesiology to join their premier, physician-led private practice in the Lehigh Valley. The provider will deliver comprehensive perioperative and cardiac anesthesia services across St. Luke's University Health Network's expanding facilities, including the newly built Heart Hospital at the Anderson campus. • ASB provides anesthesia coverage across 13 inpatient hospitals and 3 ambulatory surgery centers within St. Luke's University Health Network
• St. Luke's University Hospital - Bethlehem Campus serves as a Level I Trauma Center and primary inpatient facility
• St. Luke's Anderson Campus serves as a Level II Trauma Center and primary site of the cardiac program, featuring a new Heart Hospital
• Comprehensive cardiac anesthesia practice includes routine coronary bypass and valve surgery, complex and emergent aortic surgery, LVAD implantation, and minimally invasive and structural heart procedures like TAVR and Mitra Clip
• Cardiac anesthesia team consists of six full-time fellowship-trained cardiac anesthesiologists providing direct care for cardiac surgical cases approximately 1.5-2 days per week, with remaining clinical time in the general anesthesiology pool
• Diverse case mix includes orthopedics, thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, interventional radiology, urology, gynecology, ENT, vascular, and general surgery

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive anesthesia services across a large, integrated hospital network
• Deliver direct, non-supervisory care for cardiac surgical cases approximately 1.5-2 days per week
• Participate in the general anesthesiology pool for remaining clinical time
• Participate in required cardiac call duties

Compensation

• Average total annual compensation package of approximately $655,000
• $501,000 base salary
• $80,000 from cardiac call
• Additional compensation for required cardiac call beyond base salary
• Paid stipend for call (amount varies based on weekday or weekend)
• Call-in bonus of $1,000 for non-pump cases and $2,000 for pump cases
• Hourly rate while in the hospital during calls
• Voluntary additional shifts available for increased earning
• $100,000 sign-on bonus
• One-time equity buy-in of $2,500

Shift & Schedule

• Full-time
• Required call is strictly cardiac call, all home-based
• First call: 24-hour shift
• Second call: weekdays only, coverage until 7pm
• Weekday call frequency is approximately 6-8 per month
• Weekend call consists of 24-hour shifts covering Friday and Sunday with a post-call Monday or a 24-hour shift covering Saturday
• Weekend call frequency is approximately every sixth weekend
• Partnership vote at 18 months
• Partnership granted upon completion of two years of employment
