DescriptionKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in directing the strategic planning, development, and implementation of programs.
- Represents the organization at meetings, conferences and other events.
- May develop and present speeches or presentations to generate or enhance awareness of program(s).
- Provides technical support by evaluating established processes, conducting training, attending operational meetings and networking with affiliated groups.
- Monitors progress toward achieving established objectives and deadlines.
- Participates in planning, administering and monitoring program related budgets.
- Conducts research, designs new initiatives, and collaborates with others to ensure program(s) remain viable.
- May serve on, hold office in, or chair committees.
- May write publishable articles and papers.
- May supervise staff.
- Oversees or assists in developing operational and statistical reports for management and regulatory agencies.
- Ensures required records and documentation are maintained.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program(s) and five years of program related experience, OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
Working with Emory College, the Laney Graduate School, and master’s programs, provide career coaching to students in quantitative master’s programs – Computer Science, Data Science, and Economics. The assistant director and career coach provides career coaching services to master’s students and recent alumni from the arts and sciences master’s programs.
- Engages with students on topics that affect career opportunities and advancement including career exploration; job, internship, research search strategies; and resume, cover letter, interviewing, networking skills.
- Conducts workshops and programs on career planning and industry trends. Connects students with prospective employers and arranges site visits.
- Directs the strategic planning, development, and implementation of student career coaching for the master’s cohort.
- Design and establish career exploration pathways suited to students pursuing careers in STEM fields, with an emphasis on technology and quantitative fields.
- Engages with students on topics that affect career opportunities and advancement including career exploration; job, internship, research, graduate/professional school search strategies; and resume, cover letter, interviewing, networking skills.
- Works closely with program faculty and staff and college and graduate school administration to ensure career coaching program and processes are aligned with programs’ curricula and goals.
- Provides career counseling services to master's students and 0-2 year alumni.
- Conducts workshops and programs on career planning, industry trends, and placement topics.
- Provides information to students on topics that affect career opportunities and advancement such as job search strategies, educational and training opportunities, occupational outlook information, career enhancement materials and resume writing.
- Assists students in the development of resumes and makes recommendations for improvements.
- Administers and interprets a variety of career assessment inventories to assist students with career exploration and planning.
- Assist in creating or editing communications materials related to career planning and placement such as newsletters, catalogs, departmental brochures, and fliers.
- Maintains records and files of all coaching sessions.
- Assists in developing, implementing, and evaluating marketing programs to increase student awareness of and participation in career services programs.
- Maintains professional growth by participating in educational programs and professional organizations.
