Job Description
Nature of work:
Coordinates and implements Master of Legal Studies (MLS) curriculum and oversees day-to-day operation of the MLS program. This would include, but is not limited to, planning and assessing educational needs as well as working with students in an advising capacity.
- Performs a variety of assignments that impact educational support functions for the program.
- Understands objectives of the MLS program and uses this to accomplish/complete educational support projects/initiatives.
- Implements educational support plans and initiatives, providing guidance and oversight as necessary.
- Solves problems in straightforward situations.
- Analyzes potential solutions using experience, judgments and precedents, providing input and recommendations to supervisors.
- Impacts the quality of one’s own work and the work of others on the team, ensuring efficiency, productivity, compliance, etc.
- Explains complex information to others in a way that is understandable.
- Serves as liaison with faculty, staff, students, and other internal and external constituents.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Serve as a primary point of contact with All Campus, UMKC’s marketing and recruiting partner for the MLS program.
- Coordinate admissions efforts for MLS program with UMKC School of Law admissions office and the All Campus admissions team.
- Facilitate student advising and enrollment for the MLS program.
- Coordinate support for students with All Campus student support personnel and UMKC student services personnel.
- Oversee regular communications with students.
- Assist the director of the MLS program in identifying curricular needs, recruiting of adjunct and overload faculty to teach in the program, and acting as liaison between the program and course design support from UMKC.
- Work with the director on program assessment including assessment of student satisfaction and achievement of learning outcomes.
- Assist in accreditation review and facilitation of recognition of the program for certification or other designations with professional organizations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Typical office hours of operation are Monday
- Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. This position will report on-site; however, there are opportunities to discuss a hybrid schedule to allow some remote/work-from-home days.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree (in particular in law or education), and online teaching experience, online course design experience, program management skills/experience, customer service skills/experience, and/or experience in MLS program or other law-related program.
Anticipated Hiring Range$60,000 - $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
