Position: 2026 Jewish Museum Summer Institute Jewish Museum
Location: New York

Summary

The 2026 Jewish Museum Summer Institute is a nine-week hybrid internship program that combines work experience in a department at the Jewish Museum with topical group discussions and field trips. Learn about every aspect of work at the Jewish Museum, discuss museums and other cultural organizations with a focus on institutional reckoning and social change, and imagine the future of museum work with a group of your peers.

Departmental placements are available in the following areas:

  • Collections
  • Curatorial
  • Design*
  • Development (fundraising)
  • Digital Content and Communications
  • Education:

    Access (programs for visitors with disabilities)
  • Education:

    Public Programs for Adult Audiences
  • Education:

    School and Family Programs
  • Legal
  • Publications
  • Retail

* Design candidates must submit a portfolio along with the other required
application materials.

Key Details
  • Dates: June 8 – August 7, 2026
  • Reports to: Department Supervisors
  • Commitment: 35 hours per week (Full-Time)

Note: This internship requires four onsite workdays per week. The mandatory days
are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The fourth onsite day will be selected by
the intern and their supervisor. Remote work will be an option on Mondays or
Fridays depending on the date selected. Each intern will have a dedicated
workspace at the Museum

Eligibility
  • Current or recently graduated college or university student (BA or MA level)
  • Interest in museum work, art, and Jewish culture
  • Ability to participate in a seminar-type discussions
  • Availability to work onsite at the Jewish Museum
Compensation

$18 per hour

The Jewish Museum was the first institution of its kind in the United States and is one of the oldest Jewish museums in the world. The Museum maintains a unique collection of nearly 30,000 works of art, ceremonial objects, and media reflecting the global Jewish experience over more than 4,000 years.
