About the RoleHealth Science Adjunct - Biochemistry Description
South College seeks applicants who are knowledgeable about the following subject matter:
Biochemistry I & II (lectures & laboratories)
Course content encompasses the fundamental concepts and principles of biochemistry which include, but are not limited to, the following topics:
- The structure, nomenclature, chemical reactions, and functions of macromolecules such as proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, enzymes, and nucleic acids.
- Bioenergetics, biosynthetic and specific catabolic pathways are also discussed.
The laboratory courses have been designed to be taken concurrently with, and to supplement the subject matter covered in the lectures. Virtual or at-home assignments have been integrated into the laboratory courses. The lectures and laboratories have separate course codes but together constitute a single course for teaching load (i.e. one Biochemistry I Lecture and one Biochemistry I Laboratory count as one course).
QualificationsRequirements
- A minimum of an acceptable master’s degree in the specific subject matter field (doctorate preferred)
OR
- An earned master’s or doctoral degree and satisfactory completion of 18 graduate semester hours in subject matter field
Experience
- Experience teaching similar courses at a higher education institute.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching online.
