Cornell University Library (CUL) seeks a Director of Business, Engineering, and Entrepreneurship to lead a high-performing team and manage personnel and services across the Business, Engineering, and Entrepreneurship department. This dynamic leader will foster a collaborative culture, communicate CUL’s mission and strategic goals, and champion the One Library vision. The Director will collaborate with functional units to oversee the operations of the Management, Nestlé, and Engineering libraries.
They will develop innovative, discipline-specific, and interdisciplinary services in business, engineering, computing, and information science, as well as entrepreneurship. This position will build strong partnerships with the S.C. Johnson College of Business, the College of Engineering, the Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science, Entrepreneurship at Cornell, and other key programs and provide strategic leadership for library services at the Cornell Tech campus in New York City, guiding the Cornell Tech Library Services team to meet the evolving needs of that community.
Librarians at Cornell University hold academic appointments as Research, Teaching, and Extension faculty and must meet Cornell University Library requirements for promotion and reappointment.
Candidate Profile- A master’s degree in library and/or information science from an ALA-accredited institution or an advanced degree in a relevant discipline.
- A minimum of five years of professional work experience with increasing responsibility in an academic library setting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a high-performing team within a complex organization to achieve a vision and meet goals.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships and collaborative partnerships with faculty, students, staff, colleagues, and administrators.
- Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to fostering learning, research, and service in a diverse community.
- Proven track record of developing and delivering high-quality research support and teaching and learning services.
- A record of scholarship, professional involvement, and service.
Additionally, We Would Prefer Any Of The Following
- Three to five years of supervisory or management experience.
- Academic background or library experience in business, engineering, and/or entrepreneurship.
- Experience leading employees through organizational and/or operational change.
This position is located in Ithaca, New York. The selected candidate will typically work on the Ithaca campus 4 days per week, with the potential for entering a flexible work arrangement to allow remote work 1 day per week. The university reserves the right to modify, suspend, revoke, or terminate the hybrid work arrangement at any time.
The New York convenience of employer guidelines requires New York State individual tax reporting and with holdings for this position. Additional individual state income tax filings may also be required if working temporarily outside New York State.

The anticipated academic rank for this position is Associate Librarian, with an anticipated salary range of $78,000-$110,000, dependent on experience and qualifications.
