Overview

Doctoring Year 2 is an innovative, integrative medical school course in the second year of medical school which teaches communication, physical exam, and clinical reasoning skills to medical students. The position is student facing and works closely with the Doctoring Team (faculty course directors and administrators) to provide support and general oversight to course operations and collaborate with others involved in the curriculum.

The work includes proposing and administering quality improvement initiatives in course administration, information delivery, and continuity across modules. Working as part of a team of 3 administrators, the position is responsible for:

  • Prepare complex schedules for students, faculty and simulated patients.

  • Collaborate with course directors to prepare formal weekly communications to students and faculty. Field emails from students and faculty for timely response.
  • Support 7-8 faculty/small group activities on a regular basis both in person and via Zoom.
  • Arrange student clinicals - clerkship prep, longitudinal preceptorship and 4th year electives if needed.
  • Support end of module assessments.
  • Meet weekly with the Doctoring Program Manager and Doctoring 3 Administrator to coordinate needs and staffing for upcoming Doctoring sessions. Provide cross-coverage for actor sessions.
  • Support clinical skills activities and 1st, 2nd and 3rd year assessments by working with the Doctoring Team and Sim Center Technician to set up Sim Center and classroom spaces and by directing students and faculty. May monitor and record timed events in person and via Zoom.
  • Learn Elevate software to schedule students and faculty for assessments, input case information, checklists and reporting. Ensure accurate documentation of student assessment and performance.
  • Assign, track and follow up on evaluations using Med Hub evaluation software.
  • Provide administrative support to the Doctoring course directors. Liaise with faculty and administrators of the Medical Education Office and participate in meetings to collaborate on curricular initiatives.
  • Identify and suggest program improvement initiatives.
  • Use a variety of software products including:
  • MS Excel Suite
  • Google Suite
  • Blackboard Ultra
