Description
We are looking for an experienced candidate to fill a position as a Full-time, Training Instructional Supervisor on the SAIC Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team, supervising Air Traffic Controller training services in the Air Traffic Basics Domain
, at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City, OK
. This is currently a virtual/remote position, overseeing virtual/remote classes and instructors. However, these duties could be recalled to onsite delivery at the FAA Academy in the future.
The AT Basics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and directing the activities of contractor personnel providing instructional support conducting and administering Course 50043, Air Traffic Basics (Terminal), Course 50143, Air Traffic Basics (En Route), and/or Course Air Traffic Basics TRACON, which deal with aviation topics such as aerodynamics, aviation charts, and airport marking. They may also participate in the conduct or administration of Human Performance for ATC (HPATC) or other courses and/or in ISD projects, to include the development, revision, and maintenance of ATC Training Courses.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is responsible for ensuring that air traffic control specialists provide the flying public with a high level of safety and professionalism. A well-trained Air Traffic Control (ATC) workforce plays an essential role in fulfilling this responsibility. The FAA employs more than 14,000 air traffic controllers. They work in air traffic facilities of varying sizes, safely separating more than 50,000 aircraft in the National Airspace System (NAS) each day.
To provide such air traffic services, the FAA trains new air traffic control specialists and provides recurrent training to current air traffic control specialists. The FAA utilizes Contractor-provided instructional services at FAA ATC facilities throughout the U.S. and its Territories to ensure these training needs are met. The scope of the contractor-provided services includes all training and training program support to successfully train and prepare students to become fully certified air traffic controllers.
SAIC must provide training and training related support services as required for all types and levels of ATC facilities.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and direct the activities of contractor personnel providing instructional support for ATC training courses as described above.
- Participate in the conduct or administration of relevant ATC training programs (e.g., HPATC) and ISD projects, including development, revision, and maintenance of ATC Training Courses.
- Supervise implementation of Course 50043 (Air Traffic Basics - Terminal), Course 50143 (Air Traffic Basics - En Route), and Course (Air Traffic Basics TRACON).
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- US Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- The Training Instructional Supervisor must have, as a minimum, qualifications equivalent to those required of an AT Basics Instructor-I at the FAA Academy, including:
- 3 years of experience as a certified flight instructor, or
- Be an instrument-rated pilot plus have a minimum of 3 years of experience as an instructor in an equivalent position, or
- Have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a facility certified Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) in either a civilian or military ATC facility plus have a minimum of 3 years of experience as an instructor in an equivalent position.

Skills and Experience:
- Prior supervisory experience is preferred but is not required
- Prior Academy Instructor experience is strongly preferred
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
