Overview
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is hiring students for its Mental Health and Wellness Peer Educator Program. Peer educators provide support and education to fellow students on mental health and wellness. Students will be trained to offer personal support and education regarding mental health and wellness to fellow peers. Peer educators will be involved with creating programming aimed at reducing stigma, increasing prevention efforts, and providing information and education to the campus community related to mental health and wellness.
Peer educators are required to attend an extensive, paid training sessions that will take place towards the end of August 2024. Continued training and supervision will be provided throughout the peer educator experience by CAPS staff
- Provide support and education to fellow students on mental health and wellness.
- Engage in creating programming aimed at reducing stigma, increasing prevention efforts, and providing information and education to the campus community related to mental health and wellness.
- Attend extensive, paid training sessions (ending August 2024) and participate in ongoing training and supervision by CAPS staff.
- Open to all UM Dearborn undergraduate and graduate students.
- Hours vary, averaging about 5 hours per week, starting after completion of August training.
- Willingness to participate in training and teamwork with CAPS staff.
