The Summer Housing Lead (SHL) is a student member of the Department of Residence Life. Summer Housing Leads serve as a resource for summer student housing and summer guest housing. The Summer Housing Lead will assist with supervising Summer Housing Assistants (SHAs), preparation (cleaning) of guest spaces, check‑ins and check‑outs, serving in an on‑call rotation, and providing student and guest services.
Summer Housing Leads are Campus Security Authorities and Authorized Adults. The position carries part‑time, live‑in responsibilities with appointments made on a semesterly basis. Summer Housing Leads compensation is $16.00/hr wage and room waiver. The Summer Housing Lead is required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week, not counting time on duty, but up to 40 hours per week.

- Ability to work a minimum of 3 week nights starting at 5:00pm and ending at 8:00am as well as all‑day weekend hours on a rotating basis.

- Must be able to use Microsoft and Google Suite applications.
- Able to lift and carry 15 pounds.
- Able to identify individuals from a minimum of 10 feet away.

- Applicants must have unrestricted employment authorization in the United States.
- This recruitment is open to undergraduate students only.
- Applicant must have at least one summer of summer guest housing experience.
- Applicants must have a cumulative and semester GPA of 2.0 or above at the time of application and start date.
- Applicants must complete all UAF employee Required Training (including Safety training, Title IX, Protection of minors, Campus Security Authority, and FERPA) within two weeks of their hire date.
- At the time of start date, applicants must have applied for summer housing through the Department of Residence Life.
- Must be a full‑time student at UAF at the time of completing the application (spring semester).
- All applicants will have their university student conduct record and grades reviewed, and this review will be taken into consideration during the application/interview process.
- Must be available to work for the duration of the SHA contract period. Contract dates are anticipated to May 4th, 2026 – August 14th, 2026, but are subject to change.
- Must attend mandatory Residence Life summer training during the first week of employment.
