Overview
The Office of the Registrar seeks a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual to join its team as a Degree Completion Specialist. This professional plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of the student record and providing a high standard of customer service. This position serves as an information resource specialist for graduation processing, Board of Regent and university policy, degree requirements and Degree Works to all of UAA, including its extended campuses.

The Degree Completion Specialist plays a vital role in supporting student success and institutional integrity by managing and maintaining UAA’s degree auditing system, Degree Works. This position serves as a subject matter expert, responsible for coding and updating over 100 academic programs, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure system accuracy and efficiency. The specialist is also a key resource for students, faculty, and advisors regarding graduation processes, academic regulations, and degree requirements.
Responsibilities include evaluating and awarding degrees, providing data analysis and reporting, and assisting with NCAA eligibility certification. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to high-quality service, as well as involvement in system testing, procedural updates, and cross-training across Registrar’s Office functions.
To thrive in this role, candidates must possess strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and provide exceptional service across various populations. Success requires sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to apply policies accurately in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The ideal candidate is adaptable, organized, and able to manage sensitive information professionally. A willingness to learn new technologies and work both independently and collaboratively is essential.
Experience in higher education or a similar service setting is required; familiarity with systems like Banner, Degree Works, and Microsoft Office is preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related field and two years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Position DetailsThis is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and a generous benefits package. UA provides a compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.
