The School of Professional (SPS) reports to the division of Academic Affairs, reporting to the Associate Provost. SPS works collaboratively with departments, colleges, and academic support units to ensure integrated partnerships for enrollment growth, student success and faculty effectiveness in teaching.
Primary Purpose of PositionThe Instructional Designer/Technologist II manages instructional innovation projects and course redesign initiatives from initiation through design, development, and implementation. The role also supports the foundational setting, growth, and implementation of AI Across the Curriculum through faculty development initiatives se projects are mission critical and directly related to student success in areas of high need to shorten time to degree and reduce DFW rates.
This essential position will collaborate with faculty and instructional staff in building instructional design and faculty development projects for the university, including consultancy, design, development of content, curriculum structure, instructional technique, and faculty support.

This position provides project management, oversight, and coordination across multiple departments and units, working as a team for design, development, revision, management, and scaling up of multiple large‑scale course redesign learning projects. This includes planning and coordination for strategic initiatives, supporting learning innovation, promoting systems thinking and design thinking for faculty and student success, and leading the design and redesign of learning environments and instructional systems.
The role requires strong consultancy skills, change management, and the ability to execute and deliver results. The majority of the work commitment is devoted to instructional activities and educational/academic supportive activities.
- Master’s degree in Instructional Systems Technology, Instructional Design & Technology, Learning Design & Technology, Teaching/Learning, or a closely related field.
- At least 4 years of related experience in an educational institution involving faculty development programming, course development, instructional design, or academic technology training and support.
- Strong experience in a higher education institution with faculty training, instructional design, course development, and teaching, with knowledge of ISD methods, course development processes, instructional strategies and methodologies, instructional technologies, media selection/design, needs analysis, learning theory, SOTL, and accessibility standards.
- Experience with instructional technologies including AI, online learning technologies, adaptive systems, microcredentials, poll systems, educational analytics tools, data dashboards, project management tools, vendor tool configurations, and LTIs.
- Experience or certifications managing instructional projects, including faculty and college collaborations, learning analytics, and experience in conducting educational research, including quantitative and qualitative analysis in student success metrics.
- Experience with website design/development, event marketing, and media communications for faculty development events.
- Exceptional attention to detail, communication skills, both written and oral, confidence in leading instructional workshops, training, or consultations, and the ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented environment.

- Upon successful completion of training and at the direction of leadership, the position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule, which includes a combination of on‑site and remote work in accordance with departmental needs and university telework policies.
