Position: Youth Program Facilitator - 0.5FTE

The Youth Program Facilitator assists in supporting youth, grades K-5, in partnership with our Out-of-School Time (OST) Programs, a program of Change, Inc. This role is vital in promoting academic success through the facilitation of enrichment activities in coordination with Minneapolis Public Schools. Responsible for engaging youth through creative instructional methods, building meaningful relationships, and promoting various academic, social, and emotional program outcomes.

This part-time, non-exempt position is up to 20 hours per week, Monday–Friday. Hours are based on program needs and vary from summer to school year. The Youth Program Facilitator assists.

Essential Job Functions Teaching Functions
  • Provide instruction in literacy and/or STEM to individuals and small groups.
  • Utilize grade level standards to guide daily objectives and outcomes.
  • Ensure a safe learning environment for youth while adapting lessons to accommodate the needs of those participants.
  • Maintain ongoing contact with Program Coordinator regarding youth progress and challenges.
  • Assist in completing any required progress monitoring or assessments.
Administrative Functions
  • Assist the Program Coordinator in the development, implementation, and evaluation of youth progress in designated areas.
  • Responsible for drafting and regularly submitting daily or weekly Activity Guides to the Program Coordinator.
  • Work closely with the Program Coordinator to generate a robust and well-rounded program calendar for youth participants and their families.
  • Monitor and oversee program forms and deadlines as they pertain to the session calendar outline.
  • Attend staff department meetings, training, and any outlined improvement initiatives.
Additional Functions
  • Help organize and facilitate community engagement nights and showcase events.
  • Supervise youth while in the community and during collaborative community partnership events.
  • Participate in consistent engagement with program participant families and the local community.
  • Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements

Education and Experience
  • Knowledge of basic academic skills for tutoring elementary aged students.
  • Two or more years of experience working with youth.
  • Minnesota School Licensure in teaching, social work, or school counseling is not required, but a plus (bonus pay for licensure).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Spanish speaking preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse urban youth and community populations.
  • Possesses knowledge of the state of Minnesota and Minneapolis Public Schools educational standards.
  • Experience in teaching or facilitating youth in areas of literacy, STEM, and/or social emotional learning.
  • Experience facilitating and managing youth groups of 10-20 participants.
  • Experience working with platforms such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Minnesota School Licensure a plus (bonus pay for licensure).
  • CPR and First Aid Certification preferred.

    ESL Teaching Certificate preferred.
Working Conditions and Environment

This position operates as part of our Out-of-School Time (OST) Program located at our Mulberry Junction campus, in Northeast Minneapolis. Reliable transportation to and from site is required.

In the summer, work hours are typically Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM with the ability to flex hours on Friday as needed. (OST Program hours are typically Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

During the school year, work hours for this position are typically Monday through Friday between the hours of 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM with the possibility to flex some hours as needed. (OST Program hours are typically Monday–Thursday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM).

Must have ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and utilize various office equipment (e.g., computer, printer, phone, and calculator) on a continual basis.

This position offers a hybrid opportunity to work from home at times.
