DESCRIPTION:

Edmonds College seeks dynamic and innovative individuals to join our new Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (ROBAI) department. We seek forward-thinking professionals to help develop curriculum and/or teach in our cutting-edge 4-year applied BAS program. We are looking for professionals with expertise in any of the following: industrial automation, robotics, mechatronics, smart manufacturing, and/or artificial intelligence.

Program Overview

This exciting new program will equip students with the knowledge and skills to design, implement, and maintain advanced manufacturing systems that leverage robotics, interconnected sensors, and data analytics. Students will learn to optimize production processes, enable real-time decision-making, and increase efficiency across the entire manufacturing lifecycle, often integrating technologies like IoT, AI, and cloud computing.

Key Program Components

* Robotics Fundamentals:
Robot mechanics, programming languages, motion control, vision systems, collaborative robots (cobots), and safety protocols for industrial applications

* Digital Integration:
Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), data acquisition and analysis, cloud computing platforms, and sensor data integration

* Smart Manufacturing Concepts:
Digital twins, predictive maintenance, machine learning, and simulation software

* System Design and Integration:
Designing and implementing complete smart manufacturing systems

* Application Areas:
Real-world applications across various industries, including assembly lines, material handling, quality control, customized production, and additive manufacturing

POSITIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Position 1:
Part-time Curriculum Developer(s):
Needed immediately, Flexible schedule

* Develop curriculum for individual ROBAI courses

* Collaborate with other college faculty to create a cutting-edge ROBAI program

* Contribute to a department dedicated to culturally responsive curriculum

Position 2:
Part-time Teaching Faculty:
Beginning Summer and Fall Quarters 2025

* Prepare and teach hybrid courses for the ROBAI program

* Facilitate student learning using diverse formats: lectures, discussions, hands-on labs, online resources, and collaborative learning (in both online and on-campus environments)

* Develop and implement procedures and techniques to assess individual student learning

* Collaborate with other college faculty to create a cutting-edge program

* Contribute to a department dedicated to culturally responsive curriculum

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Master's degree in Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field; OR Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or Computer Science with significant industry experience

* Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English

* Teaching, training, or mentoring experience preferred (university, college, high school, or professional environment)

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is typically performed in a classroom, office, or online from home and requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. The ability to communicate effectively is essential. Instructors are required to use a computer in the work environment. The ability to navigate difficult terrain in field settings is required.

COMPENSATION:

The work schedule is based on an eleven-week quarterly schedule and could vary each quarter. Salary is dependent upon contract load and mode of instruction. A standard five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $6,387.94 at Step

A. Special assignments are paid at $45 per hour, and meeting stipends are compensated per the CBA rate, starting at $55 for meetings lasting from 30 minutes up to 2 hours.
